Injection screw: the component that conveys, compresses, and melts resin pellets into a homogeneous state prior to injection.
Screws often are surfaced with hard cobalt- or nickel-based weldments or manufactured with tool steels that can be case-hardened or through-hardened. We machine, hard-surface, grind and polish to precision tolerances in
injection molding and extrusion screws manufacturing. Special hard-surfacing alloys are made
with nickel, tungsten-carbide and molybdenum.
Yashi Screw has the capabilities to design, manufacture or rebuild screws for a wide range of applications, including single-flighted, multi-flighted, variable lead, two-stage and barrier.
We have a wide variety of base materials, hard sufacings, platings, coatings, and heat treatments to choose from for your new injection screw. Yashi Screw’s standard base material for screws is AISI 4140 heat treated and stress relieved to standard (28-32 RC). OD surface of flights are either flame or hardened or hard faced with: Stellite #6, Stellite #12, Tungsten Carbide, Colmonoy #56, Colmonoy #83, Colmonoy #88, etc.
Plasticating components of an injection unit:
Barrel (also called cylinder), screw, screw tip assembly (also called screw tip valve, torpedo, ring plunger set, etc. ) and the end of barrel.
Screw tip assembly includes screw head, check ring (also called non-return ring, etc.) and rear seat (also called seal ring, seat ring, etc).
The end of barrel includes barrel end cap adapter and nozzle.
Nozzle includes nozzle body and
removable nozzle tip.
